Welcome to the beginning of our development diary for Birth Haven. This diary may just be starting today; but we’ve had quite a journey to get here.
My personal motto: Perseverance!
Travelling this road has given us more than enough experience to achieve our ambitious goal.
Neighbourhood Midwives is committed to building Ireland’s first:
Independently & Internationally Accredited
Continuity of Carer Focused
Beautiful, Luxurious, Peaceful, Safe
Plans for Ireland’s first birth centre are well under way with comprehensive policies and guidelines in place. We have assembled a network of Midwives, holistic therapists, and equipment suppliers. We are searching for the perfect location daily. Insurance pathways are available. The fundraising campaign opens the 23rd May on indiegogo.
I will update you all on this development diary about who Neighbourhood Midwives are, what we stand for, where we have been/plan to be, why we are the best choice for leading this project, and when we plan to hit our goals and milestones.
Birth Haven is a grassroots, passion-filled, attempt to redress the power imbalance in maternity care in Ireland. Birth Haven is a turning point for families in Ireland; the movement away from a one size fits all birth model to a holistic, individualised care paradigm. Birth Haven is a place to birth that respects all mothers’ choices. Birth Haven is our generation’s revolution in evidence based maternity care.
Join the Birth Revolution in Ireland
Each step forward, set back, victory or defeat will be written in this diary for all to read. We cannot do it alone, but we know we can do it. We will continue to ensure every family in Ireland has birth options.
For success, we’d love your encouragement and supportive comments. We hope midwifery leaders and activists who advocate for choice and continuity will contact us. You can help by simply sharing the news of this project far and wide. We welcome your feedback, critique, and suggestions.
